Content Management: REAP Food Group

REAP Food GroupEarthIT worked with Cricket Design Works to develop a new website for REAP Food Group, a local non-profit promoting local food systems.  Cricket did the design and we made it work on the web.  REAP's old site was a collection of separately branded project websites.  They needed a unifying theme and they needed a way to manage all of their contents from one interface.  EarthIT setup a open source content mangement system, then took design mock-ups from Cricket and transformed them into a template for the CMS.  Now, REAP's staff can easily edit their website using the styles defined by the Cricket design team.  It all came together just before their annual Food for Thought Festival, where they hosted a visit from Michael Pollan.

Website Development: Wisconsin Governor's Business Plan Contest

The Wisconsin Tech Council (WTC) came to us in early 2008 in need of development services related to their Business Plan Contest web application.  They had just kicked off the 2008 contest and it turned out their outsourced developer had delivered a product that lacked the full functionality and contained major quality concerns.  EarthIT accepted the responsibility of quickly getting up to speed on the requirements and was able to successfully repair the web application functionality while limiting interruptions to the contest.  The application was originally developed in ASP.Net with a SQL Server backend.  At the point we became involved it made economic sense to continue with those technologies and so functionality improvements were made to the existing system.  The web application allows users, depending on user type, to submit business plans, view, judge, score, comment on business plans and communicate through chat with the contest participants.  There are administrative tools including reporting tools that allow WTC to efficiently run the contest.  The WTC looked to EarthIT in late 2008 to make functionality improvements for their 2009 contest and asked us to produce a similar application, with some functionality differences, for their new contest called Dane County Yes! (Youth Entrepreneurs in Science).    EarthIT was able to provide value immediately by being able to step in during a time of immediate need, gain an understanding of the application requirements, and allow the contest to continue uninterrupted.  We continue to provide value by way of functionality and design improvements for subsequent contest years.  We have built a relationship with WTC and it's group of organizations based on exceptional customer service and dependability.

Website Development: Glass Nickel Pizza

EarthIT developed a new public website for Glass Nickel Pizza Company. The previous site was outdated and did not generate brand excitement or reflect the core values of Glass Nickel Pizza. The site was redesigned to focus on mouth-watering food imagery and the strong environmental ethic the company founders espouse. They had recently redesigned their in-store signage and materials; the site graphics were refocused to expand upon that collateral and communicate a cohesive brand to their clientele. The site is based on a content management system (CMS) with customized flash components.  The CMS allows Glass Nickel staff to quickly and easily update content using a simple web interface.  The next phase of this project involves adding a store front for selling Glass Nickel branded merchandise and creating a Franchisee Intranet with role-based access to documents and reporting dashboards.

Website Design: Green Spa Network

Green Spa Network (GSN) needed a web site to communicate their environmental ethic and generate new members by offering members-online products and information online. EarthIT developed a CMS-driven site that allowed GSN to update and edit content frequently, contained a new member signup, and a members-only area requiring login. GSN membership has steadily increased since site introduction.
