Soil Information Systems, Inc. needed a web design and web presence for their growing business. The website consists of a public site, intranet, and online maps and data.
Public Site: Before content management system and its oft spouted acronym, CMS, were buzzwords, we rolled our own. The site had to be dynamic, support collaborative editing, internationalization, and promote the brand. We wired a template driven site up to a database and made it easy to edit and enter new articles simply by changing the database records. Content editors and stakeholders in four countries were able to collaborate on the multi-lingual site.
Intranet: An online order and project management system was developed. The system allows resellers to submit project parameters for returning a price quote which ultimately drove production of the deliverable. Instead of having to renter project parameters and data manually, the entire process was automated, greatly reducing the time and cost required. In some cases, this reduced the manual effort required to produce the deliverables for a project by 1000s of clicks!
Online Maps and Data: We created a secure online mapping system that allowed clients to view and download the deliverables for their projects directly online without plugins or other software requirements. With all of the information organized and instantly available to them 24/7, it greatly reduced costs related to customer support.
